I'm Sarah Goodwin,19, from Manchester - UK. I'm a Salford University Television and Radio degree student, working from the Media City campus. During my spare time I'm really interested in researching, creating, editing and producing 'all things Media' :). Here's a few posts to hopefully introduce myself and share my time spent at uni, 6th form college and during the holidays i.e volunteering, paid employment and work experience.

Train Spotting...
Thought I'd get my anorak on today and do some train spotting for my Graphic Design Unit 2 exam. It's all about researching and designing a train livery logo and promotional items.

Luckily Manchester Oxford Road and Piccadilly train stations are only 1 bus journey away. This was really good because I came away with lots of train photographs and a huge amount of train time tables and leaflets = HEAVY!

I'm surprised how many different train companies there are, Virgin, First Trans Pennine and Cross Country to name a few.

It was really cold and draughty on the station platforms :(. Although today was worth all the effort because I've now got lots of photographs and materials to work with, hopefully giving me inspiration when designing my own train livery logo.

Meet the artists...
Cracking on with my unit 2 AS Fine Art exam coursework now.

I contacted and met up with some local artists in their studios at Woodend Mill, Mossley.

Gordon Clegg and Alyson Leach both gave me some great advice and let me photograph their studio environments - this was great research for my unit 2 Fine Art exam (Which was to research Artists Studios).

AS levels are hard :(...
Not much happening apart from plenty of Art, Graphics, Media coursework and exam study. I'm finding college a totally different experience to normal school, the work is much harder, but thankfully my tutors interact with and support me.
I'm really happy with all my course choices, Media Studies is my favourite at the moment, I'm enjoying designing and producing my own music magazine front cover and double page spread.
Graphics Coursework So far....
My theme for my Graphics Coursework was Figureheads, so I chose independent female popstars who have had a lot of backlash for being themselves and expressive.
Media Coursework So Far....
In media I had to produce my own Music magazine, I chose to create a 'Pop' magazine.
Will post complete Media blog in the future! :)
Art Final Piece
Here is my final piece, my theme was about London and its Landscape. It took a long time to create this piece of work as I tried to use a lot of mixed media and printing techniques.

'Go Ape' in Buxton, Debyshire.
Waiting for my GCSE results in August 2012 was really painful, but thankfully I got the grades I needed and enrolled at my local Hyde Clarendon 6th Form college.

To help everyone settle and get to know one another much better, college has arranged for us, the new AS year, to experience 'Go Ape', in Buxton, Derbyshire. Here's a link showing how Go Ape brings out your inner animal :). 'Go Ape experience'

Here's a few photographs showing how we all got 'stuck in'.

Today was brilliant and exciting, flying down the zip wire helped me bring out my adventurous side but now I know I really don't like 'height's'! Such a great way to make new friends :).
